3. Guest speaker Christian Kiefer on Dec. 6. Remember to read his book PHANTOMS before 12/6.

Gary Ransom - Review of recent hike with Mayor Sandy Amara. 30 people rode a bus from City Hall to the Quarry Trail and back. Gary commended Al Lombardo for doing a great job with Fun Club events such as this one.

 

Catherine MacGregor:

1. SUP Christmas party for the residents of Safe House and Transitional house will be 12/13. Sign up sheet circulating to sign up for gifts for the children. Gifts should be turned in to Catherine or Bobbi Allen by 12/10/22. Gift card amount has been increased to $30 this year (instead of $25)

2. Catherine has been working in her "She Shed". Brought in Halloween and Christmas decorations that she has made. She requests a donation in the amount of your choice to the Auburn Rotary Endowment Fund if you wish to take a wreath or pumpkin.

 

SPECIAL TRIBUTE by Larry Hardy

World Polio Day was yesterday. Larry grew up during the polio epidemic. He was not allowed to swim in a public pool or go to the county fair at the end of the summer. In 1938 then President Roosevbelt started a benefit for polio called the March of Dimes, still in existence today. Polio vaccine announcement across the countyr to 54,000 physicians on closed circuit TV when the vaccine came out in 1955. That same year Rotary started the Polio Plus campaign. This campaign also helped with fresh water and sanitation projects. It has raised 2 billion dollars world wide for these efforts.

 

John Donlevy:

Our club will be preparing and serving dinner at the Gathering Inn on 10/31. Volunteers are needed (#6) to prepare the meal at 3 pm on 10/30 at the fire station across from Old Town Pizza. Dinner will be served at 6 pm on 10/31.

When - Wednesdays, Nov. 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd; all classes begin at 5 pm for 1 hour
What - Yoga for Stretch, Strength, Relaxation/Instructor, Rotarian Rachel Kanowsky
Who - All Auburn Rotary members are welcome.
Be Sure to Bring - a yoga mat, water bottle
Nice to have but not required - 2 blocks, 1 strap
A few yoga mats will be available for loan.
If you have a yoga mat, blocks or strap to donate, that would be appreciated.

 

Paul Galushkin gave his new member 5-minute bio. He is one of 11 children. Had to help on his family's farm in Ukraine but came to Americe when he was young. He and his siblings talked about America after they found out they would be coming here. The family's first home in this country was an 800 sq. ft, 2 bedroom, 2 bath room place.

HAPPY/SAD BUCKS:

Betty Bennet gave $10 happy and $10 sad. Yesterday morning she made lunch for Kim McClintock, who is undergoing breast cancer treatment. She reports they had a great lunch.

But Betty "poisoned her". Kim reacted to the cashew milk Betty had used in prep, go hives all over her chest. Kim is at the doctor now. Betty says: "It's not the cancer that will her her, it's me!"

 

Presentation by Auburn Police, introduced by Richard Hall. This coming Friday is National First Responder Day.

Sgt. Ranier Neri spent 23 years on the police force in Hawaii, 15 years in Sacramento and now 1.5 years in Auburn. He is also a field training officer for the department.
