Ernie introduced Diane Covington-Carter , a past speaker and author. Diane will be leading a class on the joy of writing at the Elks Club after Rotary meetings. They need at least one more person to sign up.
Shirley Paris, retired EV Cain teacher, is looking for volunteer support for the seventh grade Renaissance Faire. Newcastle School will be joining this year too. Opportunities include set up the day before, staffing a booth at the faire, donating to offset costs like materials, actors from the Bay Area and food. Rachel Kanowsky, Youth Service Chair, is learning how much impact we have on youth. We sent five students from EV Cain to Rotary Eight Grade Leadership. Gary Ransom will introduce those students to us in the near future. The high school leadership camp, RYLA, is coming up this summer and Rachel is looking for members to help coordinate. Linda Maeding is happy Marty has recovered from covid that he got at Burning Man. Thank you for prayers and support.
Dan Gustafson gave a shout out to Tatyana for tending bar and always saying thank you for coming to our BBQ. Dan's wife is a coach for Colfax girls varsity golf team and they are fundraising for breast cancer awareness month and their team. You can make a donation or sponsor by paying for each par or birdie made by the team in October (usually about 50 a month).
John Fink's wife is part of the annual fundraiser for Alzheimer’s.
$500 happy bucks from Jeff Ambrosia as Bob Santin took Jeff's staff river rafting and didn't charge him. $250 will go to Fund D and $250 for the foundation. All will be donated in Bob’s name for an incredible rafting event.
Bart Ruud missed the BBQ for the first time in 26 years! He was up in Washington for a family reunion and stayed with a cousin who is a math whiz. In keeping with prior club practice, he is paying $100 for missing the BBQ.
Brandee Ambrosia paid $10 happy bucks for a trip to Mexico City last week. It is now her new favorite city in the world. An unbelievable place and safe. Frida Kahlo's art is powerful and incorporates her experience surviving polio.
