1,000 Smiles Team to Mexico – team corrects cleft palate. John Donlevy announces an upcoming team on August 1st and 2nd in Ensenada. John will drive participants own there.
President Carolyn – Thank you letter from Auburn Senior Center for our donation circulated at today's meeting. Also announced upcoming speakers.
Steve Snyder – a Celebration of Life for Sharron Snyder, honorary member of our club, will be held on June 14, 2025, at Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 4450 Granite Drive, Rocklin at 10 am. This will be followed by a lunch at the Catta Verdera Country Club, 1111 Catta Verdera in Lincoln.
Geoff Davis – new initiative coming up to help our rotary environmental efforts: Miles for Monarchs program (monarch butterflies). Connected with the Monarch Joint Venture, a national organization supporting monarch butterflies. The initiative runs from June 9 – July 17. Record your miles in that period of time. Nationwide, attempting to reach multiple 3,000 mile segments.
Rod Borges –11 days from our Brew and Wine Fest, 18 breweries and 7 wineries committed. Sponsorships are at $6500. Volunteers are fully staffed. Special discount tickets available. Please buy tickets and encourage your friends/associates to buy. Our goal is to have sold out tickets prior to the event.

Jeff Spoor – Demotion dinner, June 28, 2025. New member meeting will be 6/24. Jeff will get together with the new members and let them know what has to happen.
Sean Rabe – City of Auburn will be doing the contracting for 4th of July fireworks display. Those who would like to contribute funds for this can talk to Steve Galyardt; it can be run through the foundation.

Happy/Sad Bucks:
Catherine McGregor – happy bucks because she spent the past weekend in Las Vegas at a Dead Head concert with all her children. Reports the concert was mind-blowing. And “what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas and that's all”
Linda Maeding – Happy Buck for all the good Rotary does, even things we don't always see or hear about. Linda got a message from one of the resident ladies who participated in a Stand Up Placer Christmas party years ago. This lady states that the dinner was a turning point for her.
She now lives in Michigan, owns 2 properties and is very successful.
Bart O-Brian – happy bucks for book club meeting tomorrow night to discuss the Jackal's Mistress. Carolyn will bring some food, there will be drinks. Show up at 5 pm at the Canyon View Center on Maidu Drive to participate, even if you have not finished the book.
Geoff Davis – Sad bucks for “the other Bart” who thought the purpose of Aloha Days was to save Geoff money, when it is really to raise money.
Gina Acia – Happy Buck because she will see her son this week, sad because other planned time together this summer will not happen because the Army requires her son's presence.
Bob Santin - $5 happy and sad bucks. Talked to Herb Grounds this week. He has sold his house here in Auburn and has moved to Tubac, AZ, near Tucson. He had a tough bout with sepsis. Difficult to understand him because of his COPD and he also cannot walk; gets around on a Lark mobility cart. Bob reports he is in good spirits. Bob will bring a card for us to sign next week to let Herb know we are thinking of him.
Earl Wilson - $5 happy bucks because oldest grandson (and his fiance) graduated from Chico State this past weekend. Earl is finishing the financing on one and will be starting the financing on the second grandson's college.
Bart Ruud – disclosed something: wants to spin the wheel because he was absent on his birthday. Birthday was yesterday 5/19.
Bridget Powell - $20 happy bucks because her stepson graduated from Sonoma State on Saturday and on Sunday he was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the US Air Force.
Monique Hall – Happy bucks; Friday was her last day of work in banking as she is now retired.

Some highlights:
-Placer County leading the way in addressing the fentanyl crisis, human trafficking and retail theft. First county in California to get a murder conviction against a drug dealer for killing a 15 y.o. girl with fentanyl he sold. Now 6 convictions in the state of California and Placer County has had 3 of those.
-Expanded educational and outreach efforts; 6th grade through high school now have had an assembly about fentanyl.
-Collaboration with courts and law enforcement to get drug users/dealers into treatment.
-Retail theft team. Theft ring caught in Placer County leading to the arrest of the ring's leader.
-Placer County is a human trafficking destination with hotels and motels along freeways.
-When you investigate one type of crime such as fentanyl, it uncovers leads to other types of crime. So even low level crime investigation can lead to arrests for more serious crimes like weapons and human trafficking.
-Short video about fentanyl that will be played at theaters in the county has been nominated for an emmy award.
