President's Announcements
 
Rodney advised that new Rotary collared shirts are going to be ordered by Lori Tompkins so let her know if you want one.
 
Rodney advised that the Board met this morning and approved the budget for 2022-2023.
 
President Rod thanked Dennis Bennett, Gary Ransom and Richard Hall for the great work they did getting 5 RYLA students to camp last week.
 
 
Member Announcements
 
Nancy Bender announced that Patty Parks is giving out the Barbecue Tickets to members today.  Be sure and sell your tickets for our largest fundraiser.  LOOKING FOR DONATIONS TO THE RAFFLE AND THE SILENT AUCTION!  Also looking for Sponsors.
 
Mark Smith shared that the Scholarship Committee for 2023 has a schedule for meeting which includes 9-22-22, 3-2-23, and 3-16-23.  There is a need for one more member on the committee so if you are interested, please let Mark know ASAP.  Bart O'Brien has agreed to Emcee the presentation for scholarships in 2023.
 
Scott Christensen led the club in voting approval of the new By-Laws.
 
Fun Committee Chair, Al Lombardo, announced we will have a Rotary fun time at the California Club in Old Town Auburn this Saturday, July 23rd at 8 Pm.  Our very own Preston Marx and Lori Tompkin's husband, Rod, will be performing in their band, Auburn Ravine Revival along with a possible singing performance by our own Kathryn  Gonzales and a possible dance on the bar by Lori.
 
Terry Cooney brought in our newest member, Cris Vaughn.
 
Brandee Ambrosia announced that as Community Service Director, she is looking forward to having more projects in the community.  She plans on having a meeting next Wednesday, the 27th at the Canyon View Community Center, 471 Maidu Dri, Auburn, at 5:30.  Be sure and be there to help brainstorm on some great projects.

Happy/Sad Bucks
 
Linda Maeding  - happy for Mike Yastrzemski's Grand Slam for the Giants Baseball team last Wednesday and for her great camping trip to Eagles Lake.
 
Steve Galyardt - happy bucks for the group of club's members who had a great time camping at Olema.
 
Geoff Davis woke up today to some distressing news.  He had two trees down on his driveway and found out that his mother-in-law's home burned down.
 
Bruce Lundberg got to spin the wheel after saying disparaging words about the California Club.
 
Preston topped that with some happy bucks for his band, the Auburn Raving Revival, playing at the California Club this Saturday night.
 
Bob Haydon gave $100 to PH for his nephew, Scott Christensen, not burning the wonderful Phoenix he made out of driftwood at the family camping trip.
 
Brandee had happy bucks for Dan and his family taking in their short-term RYE student from Italy, Alice Folie She was appreciative for them taking her tube skiing.  Also thankful for Dennis and Betty taking her to Lake Tahoe one day.
 
Bart O'Brien had happy/sad bucks as he was missing lunch today with his best friend ti be at the Rotary Luncheon in recognition of the Terry O'Keefe, a past student.  Bart shared a secret about what he did in HS.  He also wanted to be there to recognize the coaches. 
 
PROGRAM - Jason Stowers, Varsity Football Coach at Colfax High, Mike Maben, Varsity Football Coach at Del Oro High, and Joey Montoya, Varsity Football Coach at Placer High all spoke about the challenges of the past couple of years and what they are looking forward to in the next school year season of 2022.  The biggest challenge is fundraising for the costs of having a football program which is over $100,00 plus.
