Program: Kaitlyn Ziarkowski, Auburn Rotary outbound RYE student of 2016-2017
Kaitlyn Ziarkowski, a former outbound 2016-17 Auburn Rotary RYE student, shared how much Rotary changed her life forever.  She was a Rotary Youth Exchange student in Lujan, Argentina which is about an hour away from Buenos Aires.  She shared that the big draw to tourists and locals alike is the Basilica of Our Lady of Lujan.  That time in Argentina impacted her so much that she sppent her College Sophomore year abroad in Peru and her Junior year in Melbourne.  She still has close relationships with the people she stayed with, as well as other Rotarian Exchange students.  she was able to rock climb while abroad.  She has returned additional times to Argentina.  She recently was able to rock climb in Patagonia.  She has a degree from SFU in Marketing and Cinema.  Due to these trips, she speaks fluent Spanish.  Her brother did an exchange in Chille a couple years after her.  She shared that Chile is very much different than Argentina.  She also was able to go to Uruguay, which she feels is wonderful place to visit.  Rotary makes a difference in young people's lives.  It makes them adapt, learn, grow and see life differently.  Thank you to Rotary is her big message.  She feels that if every person did a short exchange into another country and culture, we woukd be a more tolerant and caring person.  She would like to go to South Korea sometime.  Her 10-year goal is hoping to be able to have a non-profit that helps students be exchange students.
