Barry Stigers was born in 1941. He spent 66 years working in television and radio, starting in his hometown of Kane, PA. In 1964 he got into cable TV news and promoted to VP of Warner Cable. Locally, Barry worked at KAHI radio for 23 years and was active in everything going on in Auburn. Fellow radio personality Mary Jane Popp said, "he had a heart as big as he was". Barry helped Meddlers set up their Zoom to continue meeting during COVID. Barry joined Rotary in October 5, 1964, and died just short of 59 years of membership. Barry was always positive, encouraging and humorous.

John Dunlevy BBQ announcement: We need 30 spots filled for Saturday. Ton of food coming. Great organization. Perfect weather. 7:30 AM fellowship and 8 AM setup starts. Get to each volunteer spot 30 minutes early to smooth out staffing issues. Be flexible. This is an all-hands event. Bring family and friends. Sponsorships under Rod Borges is going well and if you have more get them in soon. Caitlin is doing a great job on social media and advertising. The entire BBQ team is great. Bob Santin logistics are awesome. Your silent auction gifts are due. We are looking to raise $50,000. Reminder that parking will be down below the park and not where the customers will be parking. This will be a great event, family fun, perfect weather. Thank you to everybody!

Carolyn happy $5 for livestock at the fair. On behalf of the club, she purchased the pig from the RYE student Liv hosted by Stefani’s. Great event and the Stefani's do a wonderful job with the youth and their livestock.
Geoff Davis is heading up a new Environmental Sustainability Program and is looking for members to join a discussion group. RI has adopted a major emphasis of protecting the environment and is sponsoring a pavilion at the UN Climate Conference. Let Geoff know if you are interested in being part of the club discussion group.
Mitch Hanna disheartened that while touring the hospital, President Bob and the Galushkins were not wearing pins. Bob and the Galushkins paid $20. Mitch also had a sad buck as he lost his wallet when celebrating Don Whittaker's birthday. Luckily the wallet was returned with all of his cards and license but minus the $800 cash.
Mike Wilson had good karma bucks as he lost his wallet a time back and it was returned to Mitch's hospital!
Bart Ruud sad to think that we lost Virgil 9 years ago on September 20th.
Phil $5 happy bucks as he joined 50 other big foot trailer owners at Coos Bay OR. Tough road to drive.
Lori McIntosh sad won’t be there this Saturday as she will be in Scotland for a memorial service for a family member. In the meantime, she is working on raising alcohol donations to support the BBQ.
Bob Santin $20 happy his granddaughter got married at the Monte Verde.
Nick $100 happy for being one year cancer free! Congratulations Nick!
Kim McClintock $20 happy for cancer confirmation diagnosis one year ago. She is happy to have caught it early. (and so are we!)
Rachel $20 bucks for Geoff’s new program and the fact that many new members join Rotary because they want to work on environmental sustainability.
Nancy Nittler had $40 happy bucks for four months of camping in Alaska and Canada. She brought bull kelp pickles for President Bob who was then able to sell them to Bridget for $20.
In the next installment of "Don’t Shirt on Me", Cris Vaughn kept the shirt for $10. It says, "It’s not easy being arm candy for my wife but here I am just killing it!"

Lorin started his talk with having us do some breath work to help us sing better.
Lorin fell in love with music at young age. Piano lessons he hated. Hennessy Elementary School had a cool band instructor, Mr. Mitchell who was fun and got Lorin out of class. Lorin played the trumpet and found out he liked playing music with others. It changed his life as musical folks became his people and music his career.
Lorin is concerned that about diminished student exposure to music. Children need to be introduced by the fourth grade. The Oxford Study has shown that music is important in creating broader social connections and in support of integrating the brain.
Twenty years ago, Lorin took over Sierra Community Chorus which had been started by a Sierra College professor. This group connects people of all ages and backgrounds and levels of musical experience. It creates a community like Rotary does. Music is known to affect the brain and ease depression. It helps creativity, staves off dementia and memory loss, among other tangible healthy impacts. Lorin hopes that service groups support music in our schools.
