A Local Teacher as part of a Research Program in Antarctica

Lucy is a local teacher and a participant in a research program in Antarctica PolarTREC is a program that pairs teachers with polar researchers for the purposes of Outreach and Education, as well as providing us teachers with a field research experience in the polar areas.This coming November-December, she will be going with Dr. Rachael Morgan-Kiss from Miami University to the Dry Valleys of Antarctica. She will be investigating microbial communities that live in ice covered lakes. How do these microbes interact? How will their ecosystem change as the climate warms? What is it like to travel to and work in the polar areas?
