Auburn Rotarian, Barbara Besana, Executive Director of Kids First Counseling & Family Resource Centers, was well represented by Kids First principals Mike Mason and Antoinette Manuel. Barbara was out of town but would have been impressed with the presentation offered Auburn Rotary.
Mike and Antoinette played back and forth with explaining Kids First as an organization that serves impacted children and families with a diverse program of assistance. In 2018 some 6,000 individuals were served, comprised of 55% children and 45% adults. Some 90% of families served live below the Federal poverty line.
Services are offered through three primary programs, including Education and Outreach, Information and Referral and, Child and Family Wellness. Within the primary programs numerous subject areas are addressed: Counseling for families, parenting classes, LEAP, Cal Fresh, Medi-Cal, Mandated Reporter and Parents As Teachers.
Services offered are free of charge, confidential, and offered in both English and Spanish languages. Kids First reaches out to service groups –like Rotary, volunteers, private businesses, other CBOs, schools, faith-based groups, county services and law enforcement. The Kids First team wants to heal trauma and prevent child abuse.
Save the Date: Kids First will have its 21st Annual Awards Luncheon on Friday, April 5, 2019 from 10:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. The luncheon will be held at the Timber Creek Ballroom.
