Mike Holmes shared that Auburn Rotary recently observed its 95th birthday and that preliminary planning for the 100th birthday is evolving. In addition, Mike shared that Auburn Rotary memorabilia will henceforth be stored with the Placer County Archives for preservation in posterity.
Don Whitaker reminded everyone of Bingo Night, scheduled at Ceronix on June 15th, 5:30 – 8:30 p.m.. Funds raised will support Rotary international projects.
Bob Santin reminded Rotary campers of the Sunset Bay, Oregon excursion planned around September 8 – 12, 2019. Contact Bob for details. Bob also mentioned the Rotary Raft Trip scheduled for August 11, 2019. Anticipate an email blast with details.
Cathi Bianchi spoke briefly of President Kahl’s demotion, scheduled for June 26th at the Elks Lodge. Cost will be $25 per person. New Rotarians were also advised to join in a brief meeting following today’s meeting for discussion regarding their upcoming responsibilities.
Jeff Wood advised there will be a Community Barbecue planning meeting announced for next week. The annual Community Barbecue is scheduled for September 20, 2019.
Mike Medlin encouraged Rotarians to go see his son’s latest production, “Brightburn,” playing at the Regal Theater.
Ten years ago, Larry Rolufs homeschooled a challenged young woman. With the encouragement and support offered by Larry and Sis, they have now seen this young woman graduate from Sierra College, and she has plans to matriculate at CSU Sacramento in the Fall.
Linda Maeding shared that husband Marty departed this morning on a solo motorcycle ride across the USA. Such a trip had been a lifelong dream, and Marty is en route on his BMW with plans to rid across our southern tier states on the eastbound leg of his adventure.
Lori Twardus flashed an engagement ring and a happy smile and noted that she is engaged!
Mike Wilson noted that his son turned 15 and was picked up by limo from Placer High School at the end of the school day. Sam Frazier provided the limo and Mike donated $100 to Rotary Fund D and $100 to the Rotary Foundation.
Bart O’Brien shared that his daughter recently opened a flip-flop store on Pier 39 in San Francisco. Bart suggested we patronize his daughter’s new enterprise!
Peter Konrad proudly announced his Marine Corps son and his wife are anticipating a third child who will be delivered some months hence.
