At Rotary, we have no tolerance for racism. Promoting respect, celebrating diversity, demanding ethical leadership, and working tirelessly to advance peace are central tenets of out work.

We have more work to do to create more just, open and welcoming communities for all people.

We know there are no easy fixes and that challenging conversations and work lie before all of us. Rotary's strength has long been our ability and commitment to bringing people together. We will tap into that strength now as we stand with those who are working for peace and justice.

Rotary will do our part to listen, learn and take action to ensure that we continue to contribute to making positive change.

Accomplishments this year: Theme has been the Magic of Rotary

Recognition of current board by club members

The “magic”of Rotary is getting involved.

It became clear to Carolyn at the beginning of her term that she needed to work on member engagement, focusing on Fun, Fellowship and building better Friendships. Carolyn chose food as a link because she loves to cook. Passport program to encourage participation and sharing of mutual interests.

Specific accomplishments in Carolyn's term – inducted 10 new members, picked up film plastic and exceeded our goal of 10,000 lbs of plastic and earning a bench because of the recycling (bench is at the pickle ball courts), recycling day for e-waste with 6 tons collected, helped to finish mosaic signpost for the park preserve, cooked for The Gathering Inn several times, hosted multiple blood drives, successful food drive for the Interfaith Food Closet, coat drive benefiting the Assistance League, community BBQ fundraiser that made lost of money at our biggest fundraiser of the year, built beds for the Gathering Inn, bought gift for children of Stand Up Placer, picked 1300 lbs of mandarins benefiting 4H, started a new Rotary club – Auburn Rotaract of the Confluence with 25 new members, enjoyed fellowship with a salsa contest, Symphony in the Park, hike and potluck at Nancy Nittler's cabin, train trip to Reno, first progressive dinner, 2 fireside chats, Placer County elections tour, went to the Booker's house for Friday fellowship, World Polio Day, ate crickets, Halloween party at Mike Wilson's house, made tamales at the Ambrosia's, had a fun Christmas party, started a book club with the reading of 3 books and watched a movie about the octopus, hogs for the hungry, this old house painting and yard work follow by a BBQ meal, had a ski fellowship, return of the Rotary golf tournament after 8 years (thanks to Dan), toured Specialized bikes and had beers together, toured the Recology recycling facility, few trips to Mexico to serve those in need, sipped wine and ate pizza at Lori Tomkins, held a wine and brewfest, attended a Foundation dinner, Party in the Park (coming up Friday) and gave away $30.000 to charities. Learned about 50 or our members with 2 truths and a lie game: worst lier goes to Dennis Benett, claiming he was captain of the football team. Best liar was our resident care salesman, Steve Snyder. We learned that Steve Galyardt was an alter boy and rode in the bak of Hearses and waved at the crowd in the funeral procession. We learned that Jeff Mikles has witnessed multiple beheadings – not by choice. Jolie likes to crash weddings and Jeff Spoor broke his collar bone while slam dancing at his wedding.

Steve Snyder – Foundation Accomplishments 

Overview and goals: Carolyn did over $35,000, probably the highest we have ever had.

Every single member of our club has contributed to the Foundation: 100% EREY, meaning an additional $750 in grants.

We reached our Polio goal of $5,000 by contributing $5,025
