President Nancy-
Last Thursday our club was honored by the Chamber of Commerce for Friends of Recreation: glass trophy and proclamations from Congressman Kevin Kiley and Assemblyman Joe Patterson. President Nancy was very honored to accept it on our behalf. Items available for viewing after the meeting.

Jeff Spoor – Needs co-chair and committee for the annual Christmas Party. Linda M and Jeff did it last year. Asking for someone to step up and help him.
Eric Byer – flyer on the tables today for a Halloween Party hosted by Eric and his wife. Saturday 10/25 at 7 pm. 10250 Wise Rd., Auburn. RSVP: 530-210-1597. Wear a costume and bring an appetizer to share (optional).
Brandee Ambrosia filling in for Nick Willick – ARD gazebo rebuilding project. Email sent this am with sign up sheet. Take a look and sign up if you can. Project spans 5 days over 2.5 week period of time with small numbers each time. Flexibility will be important with weather, schedule and the progress of the project.
Bart O'Brien – Rotary Reading Group email sent out this morning to previous participants. Book is My Friends, by Fredrik Backman. Phil Booker has invited us to have the book discussion at his house where there is “a rather robust supply of red wine, and maybe even some white”. Discussion is slated for Novermber 13th. More info forthcoming.
Next, Book Buddies will commence this Friday. Half of the group will go to the school on Friday and present the books. Bart received an email from the teacher; very positive. Kids were very excited that they could KEEP the books.
Al Lombardo – Mike Wilson asked Al to remind people that he is hosting a Halloween party on 10/24 at his home. An email with details will be sent out.
Lori McIntosh – reminded everyone to click “Like” on our club's Facebook page. Lori just posted about Rodney yesterday. Requesting club members to say “Rodney is awsome” since he is not on Facebook. Also invited club members to a celebration of her beloved donkey, Oti, who passed away on 9/19/25. A celebration of life will be held at Lori's place on Sunday 10/5 from 4-6 pm with a song by Kathryn Gonzalez as well as food and friendship.
President Nancy – on the last Tuesday of October there will be a costume contest with a prize for best costume. Start thinking about your costume now.

Happy/Sad Bucks:
Sam and Pam Frazier - $50 sad bucks. When their house burned down 18 years ago, their daughter-in-law gave them a Yorkie puppy. She passed away about 2 hours ago.
Bob Santin – Happy/Sad bucks because he got to spend Sunday morning with Betty and 4 Rotary exchange students going rafting. Unfortunately weather was very cool for rafting. Bob told the students they were really “good sports” and then they had to have an English lesson about what a good sport was. Praised Betty and Dennis for how much they give all these young students, 24/7, all the time, year in and year out: host the students at their house, coordinate with all the parents, fed them burgers, got the kids there on time when Bob was late. Round of applause for Betty and Dennis.
Betty Bennett – “on that note, Bob gives so much of his time to do these rafting trips and the kids have so much fun” even when they were saying “I can't feel my toes” because they were cold. Betty and Dennis have $100 for Bob Santin's next Paul Harris
Bill Radakovitz - $1 happy buck: Mike Holmes's socks make him happy!
Steve Grundmeier - $1 happy buck: Bobbi, Bill and Steve with spouses and other medical professionals leave this Friday for Nairobi to work with women with HIV on a medical mission trip. We will be seeing 150 women, assessing medical status and giving recommendations for health care. Will see everyone at the end of October.
Rod Borges - $20 happy bucks to contribute on behalf for Randy Tooker on behalf of the Boys and Girls club. Had Chillin and Grillin event last Friday night, very successful. Some members were present at the event.
Betty re-introduced Grace, our current exchange student, who did a presentation on her home of Taiwan and her family.

Jorge Maldonado. First generation college graduate. Studied to be a teacher, but owns a window washing business. Wants to bring back pride in blue collar work.

Bruce Lundberg. Described his early life and how he went from Navy pilot training to seminary, as well as how he became a Rotary member: Virgil Trainer told him he WOULD be joining Rotary.
