Auburn Rotary was pleased to have Len Ramirez give an humorous, passionate and entertaining presentation of his life long passion of professionally relocating rattlesnakes to the wild when they get close to public areas. Len has been operating Ramirez Rattlesnake Removal since 1985 but realized, at an early age of 10, when catching his first snake, he has a passion for wildlife and adventure.
The majority of snake services are emergency response but Ramirez Rattlesnake Removal also does: site evaluations for home or business and educational services on how to reduce the possibilities of snake encounters. His commitment includes the rescue and safe release of rattlesnakes.
Some of the joys Len has for the profession include:
Never having to kill a snake, as in his own words...he is doing a service to the community and the snakes.
Meeting a variety of folks from everyone individuals, Hollywood headliners, politicians and sport icons.
The ability to travel and be outdoors.
Some interesting facts and questions he answered:
Only been bitten once, in 1995.
Largest den of snakes removed, 362.
Deadliest snake removed, black mamba.
Each snake bite is distinctive, based on several factors.
Furthest travel destination, Lancaster, TX.
Largest snake caught, 6.5 feet.
Snakes can strike either coiled or flat.
Rattlers don't always rattle before striking.
Len offered to facilitate a career change to Rotarians interested becoming a snake handler....all are encouraged to visit his site at: http://ramirezrattlesnakeremoval.com
