Board Meeting Recap by President Rod:

-Dues are going up July 1, $248 per year. Bills will be emailed by Steve Galyardt

-New Member approval: Eric Buyer, classification Real Estate, has been approved for membership by the Board of Directors of the Rotary Club of Auburn. If no objections are received within 14 days of this initial publication, he is, upon payment of the proper fees, considered to be a Red Badge Member.

Bob Santin - Rotary rafting trip on 8/26. H2O rafting company. Proceeds to benefit next year's Polio Plus fund. Sign up list will be coming.

Amy Austin – Recap of ARD 75th anniversary party. Fun, lots of help. Decent profit; no final numbers yet

Amy was given Golden Bear Pin by Rod for running the ARD event bar.

Rod: Lots of thank you notes/letters - Scholarships and evening honoring teachers and students. Placer High for contribution to grad night. American Legion for $350 contribution to Girls State.

Nancy Bender: Paul Harris Plus 4 awarded.

 

Happy Sad Bucks:

Cindy Eklund - $5 happy bucks for great demotion party, #1 best we have ever had. Dan G. did great job.

Nancy Bender – 10 sad and 10 happy; Sad: Scotty dog Stuart died. Happy Bucks: Geoff Davis for caring for Stuart, taking him to the vet and staying with him until he passed.

Carolyn Mertzger – Daughter got full time job at environmental planning company. Happy bucks

Peter Konrad - $200 sad bucks. Son Garrett blew out his knee, torn mensicus. Sad that he missed the demotion party. For Rotary Foundation so we can get 100% for this year.

Nancy – puzzled bucks because she did not get fined for her recent trip to Portugal. $100 check for the Foundation with the stipulation that Rod wears a hat (symbolic of two things the Portuguese love: Codfish and sardines) for the next 15 minutes

 

Raffle:

$195.50 pot. Guest Serge drew the ticket. No winner this week.

Rod - recognized his Board of Directors and committee chairpersons. Rotary tumblers with name and position were presented to each.

Scott Christensen – Past President, acknowledged for Acres of Hope project and club incorporation, music contest

Lori Tomkins – Public Image, stories in the Auburn Journal, Social Media outlets. Shout out to Jonathan Stefani for updating our website

Dan Gustafsen – Club Service, meeting duty chairs, Al and the Fun Committee

Jeff Ambrosia - Rotary Foundation, current donations pushing towards $30,000 (goal was $20,000)

John Donlevy - International Service, creating opportunities for hands on in Mexico and Africa

Richard Hall - Vocational Service. Acknowledged for Harold Weaver Award and First Responders Day, Student Teacher awards. Special thanks to Linda Maeding, Jonanthan and Liza Stefani, Gary Ransom

Nancy Bender - membership, acknowledged for $68,000 profit on the BBQ and 11 new members, new member mentorship program

Brandee Ambrosia - Community Service, acknowledged for Rotarians at Work Day, $31,000 in community giving with our entire club involved in decision making

Dennis Bennett - Youth Services, RYLA, RYE, REGL, Interact, Scholarships: awesome job

Steve Galyardt - Treasuere, commended by Rod as an unsung hero of our club. Time-consuming job

Mark Smith - Secretary,  relied upon by Rod as behind the scenes help. Secretary for 11 years. Presented plaque by Rod.

 

Distinguished Service Award: Steve Grundmeier for speaker program, Salvation Army bell ringing, Multiple Blood Drives.

 

Rotarian of the Year award next week.

 

Incoming President: Bob Litchfield, will be president for 100th anniversary year of our club. Rod handed over the gavel to Bob, who thanked Rod for all the transition support.
