  • President Steve started the meeting with three jokes about vacuums, valentines day and a genie. 

  • Richard Hall/Gary Ransom: Introduced "Johnny Cash" Price that will be performing at the State Theater for the Rotary sponsored concert on February 22 to benefit veteran services. Sam Frazier and Larry Roluf teaming up to provide limo service for some veteran guests. Buy your tickets now at livefromauburn.com

  • Linda Maeding: Area 5 Rotary Foundation Dinner will be March 19, 5:30 PM at the Elks Club. $45 per person. A holocaust survivor will be the motivational speaker.

  • Peter Konrad/Earl Wilson: Bingo Night coming up on February 29. See flyer on the club website auburncarotary.com for tickets. Will be held at Ceronix 4 - 8:30 PM. Looking for sponsors, silent auction items and volunteers to work shifts.

  • Bridget Powers/Bob Santin: Rotary Ski Challenge & Fellowship February 28. Prizes for best outfit (think old school), fastest, slowest and more! Come party with the team even if you're not racing. There will be 3 teams of 5 and 11 non-racers attending - fun for all! Come join the teams for a ski waxing gathering at Bridget's house Wednesday 2/19.

  • Steve Galyardt: The Graeagle Clio Camping trip will be July 10-12 this year with 25 sites reserved. The clipboard was passed. If you didn't get a chance to sign up email Steve.

  • Fireside Chat February 20 6 PM at Bridget's house. Mandatory for new members and encouraged for us all as a great way to get acquainted.

  • Amy Austin received her framed Paul Harris Fellow and Catherine McGregor was announced as our newest Paul Harris Fellow recipient. Congratulations!!

  • Scott Christensen is looking for judges and participants for the annual music contest.

  • Our RYE student Anna made fudge that she auctioned off for a cleft pallet project fundraiser. Her goal was $500 and it looks like she may have reached her goal!

  • Fun Committee: Next event is Breakfast and a Hike #2 on February 29. Meet at 8:30 AM at Flour Garden in Auburn for light breakfast then carpool up to Assassin's Trail for 5 mile hike lead by Nancy Bender. Will be done by noon.

 

Member Announcements/Happy & Sad Bucks

  • Catherine: announced the Stand up Placer fundraiser Dancing with the Stars will be held on 3/21. Also happy for son's positive outcome from surgery.

  • Larry R: Went to Las Vegas for World Festival of Archery competition. Didn't win money or awards but got to see friends from around the world and witness the first shoot score of 900.

  • Dennis B: Just finished Colson Whitehead's book The Nickel Boys and is happy to loan it to anyone interested.

  • Linda M: Sad for hand in cast from bicyle accident.

  • Cindy E: Forrest doing well after surgery with amazing recovery so far. We might even see him at our next meeting.

  • Peter K: Happy for new granddaughter (#4) with another grandchild on the way!

  • Sherry G: Sad that PCWA sheared off 27 Japanese Maple trees but glad that she's a Rotarian so handled the situation with grace.

  • Betty B: Sad for Jackie T. who broke her ankle last week. Jackie's spirits are good while she waits for medical appointment to determine what's next.

Club Business

  • New Member Induction: Rita Miller sponsored by Kay Whitaker. Welcome Rita!

  • Blue Badge: Kay Whitaker did her self-introduction and received her blue badge!

  • Birthdays: Brian Mishler (had to leave before spinning!)

  • Anniversaries: none

  • Raffle $740: no winner

  • Diane Hartka has been approved for membership by the Board of Directors of the Rotary Club of Auburn. If no objections are received within 14 days of the original publication, she is, upon payment of the proper fees, considered to be a member of the Rotary Club of Auburn. Diane's classification is Healthcare - retired.
