Steve and Jane walked their dog with Bridget and her dog River. Jane fell down and wasn't hurt but did land in some dog poop. Many jokes followed.
President Steve invited us to the Board of Directors meeting next Tuesday at 7 AM. He will also be at the Baker & Cake Maker later that morning. Drop by for a cup of coffee.
Al Lombardo/Nancy Bender: The Fun Committee's next event is Saturday, January 25th. Breakfast 8:30 AM at Dine & Dash in Colfax followed by an easy to moderate 5 mile hike lead by Nancy through the Weimar Institute property. Nancy will share the history of the area.
Bridget Powers: Sign up for the Rotary Ski Challenge 2/28 or plan to come for the fellowship and fun. See details on our website. Money and completed forms are due now.
Larry Rolufs: Update on Sam's health is positive. He is in Sutter Roseville rehab unit and gaining strength every day. Hold off on in-person visits for a bit until Sam has adjusted to his new schedule. Cards and prayers welcomed.
Don Ales: Crab Feed 2/22 will support improvements to the Placer Building at the Fairgrounds. Recent funding will cover the new roof and proceeds from the crab feed will help to update bathrooms and lighting.
Tara Cavrikas: Brewfest tickets are now on sale for the 5/9 event. If you want VIP tickets (of course you do!), buy them now as they will be limited to 250.
Member Announcements/Happy & Sad Bucks
Betty Bennett: Happy to see Kathryn Gonzales at our meeting today. Betty also introduced Anna our new Swedish exchange student who transferred from Portola. Please invite both of our exchange students Anna & Jade to join you when you're doing fun activities. Let's help them experience all our area has to offer.
Kim McClintock: Happy for Linda Maeding sponsoring her into our club. Also happy for her son's 10th birthday and her mom's 80th birthday.
Al Lombardo: Went to PBR in Reno and learned that it doesn't just stand for Pabst Blue Ribbon. The Pro Bull Riders have chosen an exciting career but one that takes a huge physical toll.
Dan Gustavson: Happy that 49ers won and for taking exchange students Anna and Jade skiing.
Patty Park: Happy to go with her son to the King's game tomorrow but worried they will lose. Keep the faith Patty!
Don Whitaker: Happy for prior ski team outings and particularly one that included a teddy bear. As Bridget replied, this is how rumors get started.
Presentation by Bill Johnston on a recent trip to Ensenada to scout out international projects with Rotarians from the other Auburn clubs. Proceeds from the Bingo Night on 2/29 at Ceronix will help support building infrastructure in a camp for orphans. The projects will include solar power and septic systems.
